FRANK MARTIN: MASS FOR DOUBLE CHOIR
Emily Isaacson and Logan GILLIS: UNFORESEEN GRACE (WORLD PREMIERE)
Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. – Bowdoin College Museum of Art and Bowdoin Pines
Frank Martin: Mass for Double Choir
For Frank Martin (1890–1974), making art and praying were private activities of faith, not a public act or a musical performance. Thus, Mass for Double Choir sat in a drawer for over 40 years until Martin finally allowed it to be performed in 1963. Mass for Double Choir is now recognized as one of the great masterpieces of twentieth-century choral music.
Emily Isaacson and Logan Gillis: Unforeseen Grace
