Panel: How to Build a Career in Entertainment and the Performing Arts with a Liberal Arts Degree

  • Studzinski Hall 12 Campus Road South Brunswick, ME, 04011 United States (map)

How do you translate your passion for music, theater, or dance into a career? What kinds of jobs are there in the performing arts? What sacrifices should you be prepared to make for a life in entertainment, and what are the rewards?

Join Andrew Gould (Bowdoin College ‘00), Executive Vice President of Publishing at Roc Nation, Kevin Newbury (Bowdoin College ‘00), celebrated opera and theater director, and Dr. Emily Isaacson (Adjunct Lecturer in Music, Bowdoin College), conductor and arts entrepreneur, for a discussion on building a career in the performing arts. Moderated by Professor Frank Mauceri, electronic music composer and saxophonist.

This panel discussion will take place on Friday October 29, 2021, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in Studzinski Hall at Bowdoin College, Brunswick, ME. The public is welcome to attend, but must wear a mask and show proof of vaccination via Health Pass by CLEAR (instructions for CLEAR are available on the Bowdoin website here). You can also watch the panel remotely via Zoom.

This event is part of a ten-day residency with Kevin Newbury as he stages Dr. Isaacson’s new composition Unforeseen Grace. For more information on Unforeseen Grace, please visit https://www.oratoriochorale.org/upcoming-events
