Night of Beauty, Night of Song:
A Recital of German Lieder

Mary Sullivan, soprano, artist-in-residence with the Oratorio Chorale
Scott Nicholas,
piano
Saturday, January 17, 7:30 p.m.,
Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick

A recital of German song by artist-in-residence Mary Sullivan, with Scott Nicholas at the piano. Featured selections including works by Schumann, Brahms, and Wolf; selections from Alban Berg’s Sieben frühe Lieder (Seven Early Songs); and a complete performance of Richard Strauss’s Vier letzte Lieder (Four Last Songs), gorgeous melodies combined with drama and humor for a deeply moving program with emotional range and wide appeal.

“Sullivan unfurled her resplendent soprano . . . her powerful voice and dramatic conviction made her a worthy successor to Marian Anderson” (Bay Windows, 2003)

“Simply ravishing” (Portland Press Herald, March 2014)
